Hi to all just a newbie, I drive a 96 vitara with a G16B motor I have been loosing coolant and have to top it up every day, i drive about 40 KM to work each day. After replacing hoses including the heater hoses at the back of the head and leads / plugs, the commpression test was all ok with no weter in oil or stuff like that. she still runs like a gem . the only place where i can track loss of water is at the end of the tail pipe. Any help would be great.

That's my guess. Had one do that and it got worse. No white smoke, No other signs, and I didn't even notice any out the tailpipe. It just happened to be the headgasket. It went somewhere as it had too. It couldn't exactly disappear. but it sort of did.

Water out of the exhaust isn't a good sign if it still does it when its good and warm. If it doesn't then it could be the water pump, have you checked very carfully around there? Other than a head gasket the only other thing that I can think of is a damaged inlet manifold gasket.
Was the compression test done with the engine fully warmed up, plugs out and throttle fully open?

Thanks Rhinoman and daddyizzle I will investigate these options as per your advice. The compression test was done as you mentioned Rhinoman and i will let you know how i go.
Kind regards From Down Under, Pete

There's a seep hole on the water pump, if the pump has been leeking there should be a stain around the hole. how much do you have to top it off

You can also take a look at your oil, when you blow a head gasket the coolent and oil with mixs together and will turn in to a creamy color.
