Title: 4DR Brake Upgrade Prices
Post by: fullsink18 on December 04, 2006, 10:57:41 AM
I was wondering how much it would cost to do the swap.  I was looking at partsamerica.com which is advanced auto parts online site and calipers were around 75 dollars each for remanufactured and loaded.  Just wandering if that is a good price or if anyone know where you can get them cheaper.

Thanks.

well more like $60 . 2 rotors at advanced 18.99 ea  2 junkyard calipers and pads $20 for the both pads were like new.  The only problem with the swap dry roads it stops on a dime. Wet roads they lock up to easy. slide like hell kind of nervous to drive in the snow the littlest bit of pressure on the peddle and it seems to slide on wet roads that is. Maybe thats why I smashed int that ford acouple of months ago. QAny one else have the same thing..

If you've only done the fronts then you've messed up the brake balance. You should have got the rears at the same time.

From what i was told with the rear I would have needed the master to did not want do that much work I thought you could just do the fronts and be fine.  That sucks is there any way to fix the problem with out using the 4 door backs. Or should I just go back to my 2 door brakes.  Please help.

i did the swap and i didnt notice any imbalance in front/rear braking...  What kind of problems could be incured from this?  I replaced the rear brakes with 2 dr rear breaks a week after the front swap, it seems to work fine as off now..

My rotors were 23.99 a piece from NAPA, 88 bucks for the calipers from AutoZone I beleive.

The first thing that you should do is to strip the rears and make sure everything there is good and works OK. Does the 95 have the load proportioning valve, the one with the spring down to the axle?
There are two sizes of master cylinder, the 4dr does have the larger one but its probably not essential, you'd just get a bit more pedal travel.
If the brakes aren't safe in the wet then the 2 dr calipers would be a better option.
