Title: 89 Sidekick running RICH
Post by: tonyman246 on December 04, 2006, 09:20:57 PM
My 89 Sidekick 8v that I recently installed myself is running extremely rich. It blows black smoke even while idling. It runs great at any rpm and has between 140-150psi in every cylinder.

I’m almost 100% sure it’s a vacuum problem. I put the lines back together as I thought they should be, but I need a picture or a diagram of how they should be.

DOES ANYONE HAVE A PICTURE OR A DIAGRAM OF THE VACUUM LINES??

89 is an odd one, the EFI is a bit different from the later models. there are a few people that have them, you may just need to be a bit patient.
When you did the swap did you reuse all the 89 EFI parts? Black smoke implies very rich, as if the injector is stuck open. If you have a later TBI then that could be your problem, the TPS is different and the TPS shares the same connector as the injector.
