OK, I know this has been covered before but I was wanting to gather some info for a friend and can not do much searching on the damn dial up.
What are the pros and cons to each BL.
I have installed the 3" in my Kick and had little or no trouble with the Shifter extension, steering extension etc....
I have also heard that some people had to extend them any way with a 2" but I have never installed one.
What pro's and con's have you'll ran across with each body lift?

Oh Yea, Can the Gas tank relocation be done with a 2" BL. I know it was a tight fit with the 3".

i had huge probs with my shifters on my calmini 3in. had to trim a small section of the floor out. also people have trouble with the shift boots as did I but my tracker isn't for show so we modded some other shift boots to work. and lastly was the steering extention(sp). i would like to see some one install the RRO one and see how they like it.

Here's what I know from my '96. The 2" is simple, all I extended was the TC Shifter, no steering extension and just slide the hose a little on the gas filler. According to some here the tank relocation won't work on my 2" lift, I haven't tried it. I like the 2" but I'm considering the 3". Why? Why not? ;D

Those shifter problems are eliminated when you extend the shifters about 3" or so.

i installed the RRO 2" one and had no problems at all just busting the ol bolts because they were rusted solid, but thats not everyones case :P other than that i have had no problems, i cut the t-case shifter boot a little as it was bunching up and sometimes would knock it out of 4 wheel low, but that was easy fix. i say it is definently an easy kit to do it yourself.

I went with a 3" lift as I don't really think it's that much more work than a 2" and every inch counts ;). Before I had the body lift 30x9.5's used to rub under the top of the front guard but the 3" has cured that problem.
As for the tank lift thats another advantage of 3" I can't see you lifting it with a 2" as the tank mount would end up below the top of the rear x/member giving you where to bolt it too.

Tank lifted, Worth the extra effort in my opinion :o
I have CAD drawings of those alloy lift blocks with captive nuts that fix back to the original studs which you (or any ZW members) are welcome to use if you don't want to go the 3" box section way ;)

I did a 3" lift, no problems for me i just had to extend shifters etc.

I have yet to lift the tank, but I found that
I can remove the fuel pump with my 4" body
lift, I'm planning on a new designed rear
bumper with an intergal tank skid plate and
double heavy duty D rings for pulling out Jeeps
;D

It sounds like you are trying to do the simpoest job??
You can raise the tank with any lift depending on the work you want to do. I lifted mine by cutting the tank support tubs and raised them up to put the tank back to stock location with the body. And then welded them back into the place.
Anyway, I have a 3" lift. I had to extend the stearing shaft, TC shaft, and bend the shifter. It wasn't that hard to do.

Not necessairly the simplest, but most productive. He is building his first Kick/Track and of the original items he wants to do is the tank relocation. I did mine like the pics above and know that it could not be done that way with a 2" BL. Thanks for the info, please keep it coming.

I got a 2" BL on my puddle jumper.. And i actually like the shorter shifters. The Transfer could use an extension but the Trans if perfect. It sits just under the cd player.

I musthave done something wrong when i installed my calmini 3in body lift :o i didnt have to extend my sterring at all :-/

Depending on the year, the stearing shafts are different.
The earlyer years have a chevy type shaft, where it's a shaft in a shaft. So that with a head on collision the shaft will colaps.
Mine (96 tracker) has a shaft that looks like a spring. Its a tube but it looks like a spring. So in a collision the tube will flex out of the way.

mee too, i dunno why lol steers regular too

I have a 98 canadian 2dr model, would I have to extend the steering shaft? And how is this done?
-
The easiest way is to go to the junk yard and get an earlier model stearing shaft.
Or like I did (per Calimini's direction), where the shaft bolts together, unbolt the shaft and I made an 1 1/2" extention that will bolt into place.
