JAN 1 ST... A GREAT START TO A NEW YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   ;D
Got there at open... 4 Zuks and 7 Jeeps also showed up with our group.  We ran some easier trails first because it was so muddy and then ventured toward the tougher trails before lunch.  Back at the parking lot, they were serving many choices for lunch including chili, hot dogs, burgers and free hot chocolate.  With our bellies full, we headed out to harder trails, such as Jimmy's Crack, which turned out to be quite a challenge.  Most vehicles did very well, with only one Jeep needing to be winched.  We continued on to Laurie's Hollar which was fun until we got to the back side, which is very steep and off-camber (and did I mention... VERY muddy :o)   Booger (not booger85) got part of the way down and turned his Zuk all the way around continuing down the hill backwards (pucker factor 10).  One Jeep hit the bottom of the hill and was on the 2 driver side wheels for a short time.  We then went over to the rock pile/ravine which was very sloppy.  Most needed to be pulled up, but there was a good effort by booger85 who couldn't get past a tree root at the top of the hill.  One Jeep decided to try a different route (going down the ravine) and when trying to get back out of the ravine almost rolled over.  Luckily, he was able to call on his CB (barely) and one of our Cherokees (RDs) was able to get a tow strap on him just in time.  George chickened out and went the easy way and Booger (after a valiant attemp) turned around in the ravine and went back up the hill he came down.  We then went over to the flats and did some donuts in the muddy slop.  It was a very fun day and the only breakage was our 94 Zuk, which had an ignition trigger go out (easy fix).   It was a great way to start out 2007!!!
