Title: Fuel pump spewage
Post by: omaha97 on December 18, 2006, 08:59:53 PM
I'm new here. Ken from N. Fl. 86 sammy daily driver. Have noticed oil spots on garage floor. And all under vehicle. Tracked it back to below fuel pump area. I installed a hose to the vent tube and a catch jug and its throwing some oil out. The fuel pump isn't that old miles wise but time wise 2 yrs. Does these things have trouble with diaghrams going bad. Or is there another issue. The pump was a NAPA rebuilt unit. Any brand better than the rest. Thanks Ken

The pump is bad, replace it and change the oil too. It should last a lot longer than 2 years.

Yep replace that pump, and make sure like otherguy said change the oil, it will have gas in it, and can cause problems.

x3!  I lost an engine from a bad pump.  I would not get a rebuilt unit.  Check with venders like Hawk's Strictly Suzuki for OEM replacements or get a new one at a local parts store.

Installation note:  Be very careful handling the pump as you install it.  If you bump the pump arm ioto something too hard, you are liable to perforate the diaghpram which will make the pump leak.
