cheap for nissan guys than suzuki guys???
Or nissan guys is less cheap than suzuki guys :P
I found this on a Xterra forum:
CALMINI Xterra/Frontier SAS Kit
(http://img132.exs.cx/img132/3354/xcalminisas0zz.jpg)
Options to this kit will be:
1) Front Coil-Over Shocks,(Fox,SAW,Bilstein,King)
2) Optional Front Sway Bar,
3) Rear Leaf Spring pack for both Xterra & Frontier,
4) Front CV Driveline.
Not included in the kit is the donor axle. The axle used in this kit is a D44 from a 1980-1985 Jeep Waggoneer w/drivers side drop diff and no vacuum disconnect. I know of nothing else that will work.
What do you think?

Very interesting
They probley dropped the SideKick one for the Nissan.
Like there really is more Nissans than ZUKIS.
From what I've sen.
Theres even less Nissans wheeling than Zukis. ???
-
Looks like a very well designed kit. :)
Diffferance is MORE Nissan guy will drop the coin.
Check out the bumpers for the Xterra, Much more to offer, then Suzuki but super $$$.
-
Thats funny .... i cant remember the last time i seen a Nissan wheelin.
-
With minor spring tower / frame mods and major crossmember adjustment this kit would work on a Kick.
Definatly on slick set up. Very similar to what I had in mind for an XL-7
-
That reminds me a few months ago a saw an article in a 4x4 mag (can't remember which), but it was a test for a Calmini equiped solid axle converted Nissan. It was for the Pathfinder, not the X-Terra.
Wish they would put more effort in to the Kick/Tracks... ???

Amazing. CALMINI all but created the Sidekick aftermarket off-road industry. Now, they don't put forth any effort? You need to go through and read the SAS thread where everyone decided they would rather build their own SAS kit out of miscellanous parts from a junkyard for $105.72. You won't see this for the Zuks, because no one will step up for it. Look at what that X is capable of doing now (http://www.sccxterra.com/bbear/jb83.jpg).
-
Overall Nissan guys are less cheap than Suzuki Guys. That is why you will see a completed X-Tera SAS form them before a Kick SAS. Not to mention the Nissan is a NEW vehicle with sales well above Suzuki Sells. I would bet that the X boards are not complaining about cost, but trying to save up coin to get it.

Look at that pathetic thing flex. No wonder they need SAS before we do.

That Hardbody was just featured in a magazine too. Yet another version of a CALMINI SAS (leafs in front). I'm a Zuk guy also, but I can't recall the last time a Zuk was featured in an off-road mag.
-
The nissan kit cost around 1790$ u.s. but it's not on the calmini site.
You need To buy coil over shocks+housing+++++

Man I am dooling over that! I wonder how tough it would be to convert that to a zuk and yota axles
-
something tells me the Samurai frame will be entirely too narrow for the bolt-on cross-members and radius arm mounts to work properly.

i think the reason calmini hasn't brought the sas kit is because, they're probably waiting to see what rro, and tt are bringing out. if calmini was to bring their kit out now, and later rro & tt's versions are of better design, and cheaper it would have been a big waste of money to start producing thier kit.
either way though if you want an sas setup. it would cost about the same all said, and done. I have a design setup in my head that i would like to attempt someday. it would be toy axels with coilover shocks. if i get my hands on a set of good toy axels i will do the swap.
i think the suppliers should bring a kit to market, it won't sell to the cheap crowd, but not all of us are that way. if a good strong well designed kit were available i would buy it, and if they never come out it wouldn't stop me from building my own if i wanted too.

I dont think Calmini is waiting on anybody to build it first. Calmini was building a Sidekick aftermarket long before RRO or Trailtough even looked at these as something other than a sami donor vehicle. Calmini was prototyping the SAS almost 2 years ago. They are not waiting to see if anybody elses design is better. They have some of the top designers, welders, and Quality control people in the buisness.
Nobody on this board should be wondering why Nissan got the SAS first. If you go to the Xterra board you wont find people saying they think 2k is twice what they paid for the rig. They are happy that its so cheap.
I do think Calmini will come out with a SAS for the Sidekick. I dont belive they would have invested so much time and money prototyping the SAS in Erics rig just to walk away. This was a while ago but I talked to Steve at Calmini about the SAS for the sidekicks and he said they had designed a second setup that would be slightly cheaper and easier to build than Erics setup.
So if you were to build a SAS for the Nissans or the Sidekicks which would you build for first? The group begging you to build it, or the group telling you its too much money. ::) A smart vendor is going to build what will sell.

exactly, why would they spend so much time and money just to hear the people they want to sell it for bitch about how much it costs.
-
[and now time to offend some Nissan guys]  Calmini knows that anyone dumb enough to buy and Xterra and then is dumb enough to try and wheel it, will fork over alot more dough than us wiser and more frugal Zuk guys.  But those old Nissan pickups are cool though. 8)
Oh and 92, I don't think they went to too much trouble designing the Zuk kit, afterall how many of us have scratch-built them in our driveways. Mike's right, Calmini's gonna cater to the guys who want to pay them. If we wanted an SAS kit bad enough, there would be more of us clammoring to pay $2500 for it.
-
well calmini gave us all a tease about a year and a half ago about this kit, which was supose to come out within six months. since then no info has come forth, not even a full review on eric's rig. i'm sure eric is under nda agreement with them, cause if i were him i couldn't hold the details on my rig for that long. so i guess we'll all have to wait and see.
remember an idle mind is a devils playground ::)

The thing that really surprised me about those Nissan's at the Calmini Customer Appreciation Run (over Golden Crack) was that the approach and departure angles on those Nissan's is HORRID. Makes me glad to be driving the Gnewt!

Well, not every vehicle can drive into the crack before driving back out. :D
