Title: Rear window rail clips
Post by: whitfield on January 08, 2005, 06:14:11 PM
Anyone have any replacment alternatives?

My 1998 Kick needs two, and if the dealer parts kid is correct they want $68 each.

I'm hoping someone has stamped a few out of steel or aluminium and is selling them by the pair.   If not then maybe I should look into it.

Not that I know of, I always thought
that a pair of aluminum or steel corner
top holders would be nice, I replaced
my stock ones with later model ones
that were better, but they still will break
sometime in the future

My corner top holders are still Ok it is the two clips that hold the aluminium bar just above each side of the Tail Gate that are broken.   I'm guessing the PO may have slammed the gate with the bar not latched in properly.  Never been a big deal until now.  I'm trying to keep the warm air in and the cold air out.

I've broken both before also... it really sucks, because after buying another one and installing it, I broke this one also. I was so pissed I punched a hole in my rear window and ripped it totally out. A little while later I gooped the window back in and bought a white hardtop for 200 bucks.

Honestly, Either drill into the bottom on the bar on the window and weld 2 studs into the top of the door so it sets in it.. or fab some holders out of metal. Good luck!
