So, I have never done this before........ I have the FSM for an 88 Samurai and I
have been lacking power and as one more thing to check I am trying to see if the valves
need to be adjusted. I pulled the valve cover and I can't get the tiniest feeler under any
of the adjustment screws...... intake or exhaust. The manual just says to "check gap and
adjust as necessary." Do I need to do anything to the cam position or turn the engine over to a certain position to adjust them? I hope this doesn't stupid, cause I am at this stuff. Help.
Thanks,

yes you need to put the motor at TDC on #1 cylinder and you do 4 valves there and then rotate it one rev and do the last 4 valves. can't remember the exact sequence. If you just try and do them at any position the valve may be open and it would severely screw up your adjustement. Get a haynes manual it tells exactly how to do it in there.

Any help on how I can turn the crank over to line-up the "T" on the timing wheel to
check my valve clearance?? I can turn it some but then it stops and I can't turn it over anymore? I'm turning the belt in font to move it now......
Thanks,
