Title: 4 Speed Automatic problem
Post by: fgials on January 07, 2007, 11:36:14 AM
Well Joe S. just bought a 95 Sidekick and on his way home he is experiencing problems.  He said that while you get up to speed it the overdrive light will come on and the truck seems like it is goin into neutral and revs up to about 5000 rpm.  Then the light cuts off and the truck goes back to driving fine.  He said it started around 35-40 and now it is doing it sometimes in 60-65 range.  And the Overdrive putton doesn't work on the shifter.  And help would be appreciated!  thanks

Daniel

Quote from Joes S. when he got back in town:

thanks daniel. it seems to do it worse the warmer it gets. on the hour and a half drive home, it seemed to do it worse the closer to home we got...  it is like it is shifting but cant find the gear. do i need to look at the computer? or the solenoids inside the tranny? or is it the tranny itself?

also, i have access to a 95 tracker transmission computer that i can plug up to see if that may be the problem. where is the computer located, and would that tell me what i need to know?

thanks
joe

i am flustered...

The problem sounds similar to the one that I am having.  I just spent $275 to replace the TPS,  but that didn't fix it.  How hard and expensive  is it to replace the ransmission solenoid?

my problem isnt like yours... so i can offer no help. mine ended up being a stripped wire that was grounding against the block, throwing the transmission and motor ECUs into a frenzy... got that fixed thanks to a mechanic's sharp eye, and havent had any more problems...
