Title: New Member here need help with Samurai 1.6 engine swap
Post by: jrryrog on January 07, 2007, 08:50:17 PM
Hello, Good to see so many Suzuki people out there. I was hoping for some help with a 87 Samurai engine swap. Out with the old 1.3, and in with a brand new 1.6, 16 valve. The 1.6 is out of a 94 Sidekick. I know I need a plate for the bellhousing, where is a good place, besides Rockey Road Outfitters, I had a bad expereince with them, to get the swap kit. Also, the wiring, can I buy a already made wiring harness, or is it something, I'll be able to make myself??? My Samurai has a 5" SPOA lift. I have the 1994 Sidekick I got the motor from, just incase I need more parts off it. Any help will help. Thanks Jerry

TRAIL TOUGH  ,  CALMINI  ,  LOW RANGE  ,  PETROWORKS  ALL PRETTY MUCH THE SAME

Trail Tough do a full circle adapter plate and can supply the wiring too. They also do some nice heavy duty engine mounts although you can modify the passenger side mount.
I got my plate from a UK supplier, there weren't any instructions. I fitted the plate and put the engine in. Then I discovered the two top engine/box bolts are bigger on the 1.6. Now I have to take it out again and drill out the bellhousing  >:(
