Title: Lost Power with Rear Locker
Post by: fullsink18 on January 08, 2007, 08:31:05 AM
It seems that my kick has less power now with the rear locker installed.  Mainly when I am trying to climb through or on stuff.

Is this normal?

I guess it makes sense since it is now trying to move both tires.  Any thoughts?

On most any rig you are turning both tires, with a locker in a turn you are pulling from the inside wheel giving you a taller gear ratio instead of splitting the diffrence with spider gears, so go streight and no diffrence  ;D

I thought so.  I only really notice it when i am turning.

But i can tell it is helping.  There is a stomp that i tried to climb on before the locker and the kick just spun and never got on it.  I got the locker and it started up the stump but then ran out of power in 4 lo.  So i guess i need some crawling gears huh.

i bought my samurai with a rear locker already installed.  i try not gas it or power through turns.  i was told its hard on the locker and tires.  anytime i make a sharp turn i try to build momentum first and roll through it with the clutch in.  otherwise i have lots of tire chirp.  i have the grsII t case from petroworks.  it has a high in 2 and 4X.  the gearing is really low.  the thing will dig holes and spin tires before it runs out of steam.  works pretty good.  i would reccomend it.
