Title: Help on Samurai Project
Post by: TexasSamurai75 on January 11, 2007, 08:56:54 PM
I just purchased a bone stock zuk samurai and i am planning on making into a dual purpose DD as well as a capable rig.

I plan to invest in a complete 6in SPOA kit from rockyroad, replace the front springs with rears, and put some cj springs in their place. I then plan on puttin a spool in the rear and possibly a locker in the front if my wallet can bare it. I want to run 31's or possibly 32's depending on wether i can fit them and how much flex id be sacrifing. I also plan to invest in a new 3core radiator b/c the one in the sammy now is cracked, a complete calamini exhuast system, and maybe a k&n air filter kit to bring a little spark to the little engine.

Now im attempting to just get my project off to a good start, but im low on funds and cannot afford a new set of gears for the transfer case or ring/pinions to compensate for the larger tires so the questions i have are these...

As far as ive laided out, do my plans seem considerably good for making a capable DD/trail rig for a low price?(open to reccomdations!)

will my zuk be able to push the 31/32s?? on and offroad without having to struggle too bad?

and other there any other things i need to address in this projecT?

I belive to run springs up front you build a set of springs.
You combine springs from the rear and the front. Cutting them and adding them in.

Im not sure if this is how you do it for a samurai, but i know thats how you do it for a Toyota.

What kind of wheeling do you plan on doing? Personally I wouldn't go for big tyres until I had the gearing to match. I had 33s on the Vit with stock 5:12s and it sucked. It did have more ground clearance but all round it was more capable on the 215s.
