Cold and/or sticky selonoid and/or bendix
bendix is the part that throws the gear into
the flywheel, and pops it back out when the
engine starts so you don't trash it too bad

yah i think the bendix part has gone out..so how do i test this all?

where is the starter relay? is the starter easy to get to?

it kinda sounds like the bendix is weak so its making contact but not all the way or not keeping contact

that would explain the little chugs i hear that sound like its getting compression

The selonoid pushes the bendix into the
flywheel, there is a small plastic :o fork
that does the pushing, to fix it you will
have to remove the starter, and have it
tested or test yourself with a battery and
a screwdriver crossed between the big
terminal on the little can, that's the selonoid,
and the small spade terminal, that's the
voltage that would come from the key.

You can watch the starter do it's thing,
but make sure you hold it tight, lots of
torque and it wants to spin on the ground

Good luck

ok well i charged the batt last nite to full and only cranked on it once..now when u get in the car the lights are super dim and the beep is like beee   eeee   eeeeeepppp so the batt is dead again

so i think the batt may just have toasted not giving the starter enough juice...hmm ill look into that today

u probably just need a new battery. if the battery is really old it won't hold a charge anymore....might be cheap to look in to

ok the dudes at kragen said the batt is perfect...how much water is suposed to be in them?

theres like 1 1/4" from top the resevoir to the water line in each of the holes..suposed to be?

also what does the starter sylinoid look like so i can try that? and how do i do that? just key on then jump it???

I wouldn't trust kragen to test
my battery, I've had problems like this
with them before. The lights were dim,
sounds like bad connection, bad ground
or bad battery, clean all connections
posts and cable clamps with a battery
cleaner brush, then try it again

Have you tried jumping the vehicle? I've seen people go thru all you have gone thru, battery checks ok, blah, blah, and they jump start and it starts right up....Least worth a shot.

Take the terminals off the battery all together and jump it from another vehicle directly to the terminal cables. Sounds like your battery, but do what I said above to be sure...

make sure you check the condition of all cables.make sure they have no corrotion inside of them.and check your ground wires also.
if you have a battery that ou know is good put it in and try that.if that don't work then go back to your starter.(if your ground wires are bad,it will use the starter as a ground and make it go out fast)
