some people say if you use 2 in coil spacer you'll blow cv's like no other. but theres other people who cay they use the spacers with no problem. should i get 2in spacers or not?
also, the rock steady lift comes wit bigger springs and 1 in spacers...that would also lower the control arm and put more of an angle on the cv's but they say nothing about that...

I've asked around and read a lot about this. Many say that 2" or more poses a risk to CV's. Others claim to run this way for years with no problems. Now some people say they have 2" of lift and what they have is 1.5" spacers. Then there are the kits with 2-3" of lift with longer springs and struts, some come with shock or remounting brackets for them and drop brackets for the CV angle, longer struts, new arms, spacers and all sorts of variations. But you're spending $700 plus for these.
Sounds like you want 31's to fit. From all I've heard you can fit 30's with 1.5" coil spacer lift with maybe a little fender trimming. 1.5" spacers + 2" body lift will fit 31's no problem. Sounds like you are going cheap, that might be the best bet. I've also seen people fit 31s and bigger on 1.5" spacers only with a lot of fender and wheel well banging, and trimming. If your body isn't great this might be a cheap option. A 2" body lift is about $100 or can be home made.
Tire sizes vary about an inch in worst cases also. So some 235's and 30's are about the same. Many 31 inch tires are more like 30 -1/2-3/4. If you have tires already that's something to consider.
I bought Daytsar 1 3/4 jeep spacers, ( $100 ) these particular ones are supposed to fit with no mods. They are actually very close to 2" but may squish down a bit. And I may shave some off the front to even things since you get more lift in the front with the same spacer.
It may be wise to get the 1.5" - 2" spacers and the tires you want, and then if you get too much rubbing, spend $100 on the body lift. They say it's easy and takes a couple hours? I guess your shifters get shorter but are OK. And Rocky Road sells them with extensions I guess.
At this time I'm going 30 x 9.5 dia. tire only which is about a 29 3/4 inch diameter max. Big improvement over my tiny 215's which are under 26" now with wear. I'm hoping to clear with minor trimming. This gives me a pretty decent trail rig, about 3-4" higher on the frame, and 1.5" or so more at the diff. heck I can take most trails here stock as it is driving sensibly with good lines. If you want to Rock Crawl or do serious Rubicon type stuff, you probably have to part with a few grand in mods to do it right. 6" lift and sliders and stuff. Anyway, just some things I was thinking about.

im running 2 1/8" coil spacers in the front with a 2 1/8" strut spacer and it it working just fine, nothing has started to make noise yet and these cv's are the stocks ones from 1991. I'm also running super swampers which are pretty heavy tires and i have no problems with the 2 1/8" spacers in the front, but i wouldn't recomend making your strut spacer any bigger then 2 1/8" because right now when mine is at full downtravel in the front it is just on the verdge to pull the cv cage appart.
So, i don't think you will have any problem with 2" spacers front and back.

Tyson S, you're the kid from funinbc that doesn't even have his L, right?
If so, I don't think you should really comment on the durability seeing as you shouldn't even be driving without a license.
Just saying...if you don't actually drive the truck, of course you're still running the stock CV's from 91, there's no wear and tear on something standing still! Correct me if I am wrong.

With OME front struts, mount not flipped, no swaybar and 1-1/2" coil spacers, my cages are right at the verge of pulling apart on full lock-full droop situations. You can't forget about the steering, certain ways you steer change the drive angle more than droop itself does. I tell many people this: if you are just mall cruising and posing, go ahead and put as tall a spacer as you can find in there, but if you actually plan on using 4wd in the woods on rough terrain, don't go higher than 1.5" of spacer up front unless you lower the diff somehow!
olija: that's too funny, man! I LOVE IT!!! ;D

olija: Yea that is me.
And i trailor my truck out atleast twice a month and probably wheel my truck harder then you guys do because i don't have to drive it as my DD yet, so, im not worried about breaking stuff, the way I have my coil spacers and strut spacers set up they are working fine so far. I have only wheeled it maybe 10 times but when i do go wheelin im hammer down most of the time. And since im 16, all 16 year olds usually drive there trucks pretty hard.
just my take on it tho, don't beleve me if you don't want to. I know a guy that is running 2.5" spacers in the front with no problems.
I'm guessing your living in bc if you know me right? If you don't belive me, come down here and we will go wheelin and I will show you that they work fine and i wheel it pretty hard.

Yes. You might need to do some slight floorboard pounding with a big hammer(mainly just to flatten the pinchweld at the back of the front wheel wells), but you might not. It depends on your trie brand as well as the rim size and back spacing you decide on. My silver Tracker is running 1-1/2" spacers all around and a 2" body lift and it clears 31-9.50x15 Swamper Radials very nicely on 15x8 rims with 3.75" of backspacing. My next setup that I plan on is the same size tires on sammy wagons on the silver truck. Originally I felt the 15x8" rims were too wide for the narrower swampers and the beads were pretty exposed and took quite a thrashing. The sammy stock wagons should fit them just about perfectly...
