Title: SAS with coil springs...
Post by: john1974 on January 29, 2007, 05:00:42 AM
I am going to do a SAS project on my tracker here soon, and I have been collecting some info about it.  Now I am thinking of putting my samurai front axle up front with coil spings.  My question is I am only looking to run 33's so what coil springs would work...  I dont want it to sit to high that it would need 35's to look decent. So coil spring options?? anyone do this setup?

35's might be a hair to big for a samurai front end.  There max rating is a 33 but im sure with some double tuff axles and some stusses it would hold up.  But thats not a promis.

your cheapest bet is to use Jeep TJ coils. they can be found almost anywhere. If you have an ultralight sammy try ford Aerostar rear coils.

MarkyB ran stock Track/Kick rear springs on his SAS with Sammy axle. He visits here from time to time but if you PM him I'm sure he'll provide you with details. There should be a pic of his truck on here somewhere. Otherwise have a look on:

The Track/Kick rear springs should work pretty well as they have the same effective rate as the stock fronts. I know Mark tried a few different springs.

I would not run anything bigger than 33's on stock sammy axles, maybe a 34x9.50
