I've seen pictures of 86 or 88 Suz. Samurai's that have half door convertable tops. That's makes since, but I have seen a few that ALSO have the side of the door....the part that sticks up in the ear where a full door would close against...missing. Did they "shave" this off? If so, is there a kit for a full convertable top that would cover thisnow missing area? OR, are these just people that never put a top on it?
Am I making any since or do i need to re-word this.
I want the Half door look and nothing but roll cage vieable from there up....unless the soft-top is on.....which I want to cover the whole top.
Anyone know where I can find info on such a conversion, or if it will have to be custom work? Like shaving it myself...weldind to clean up the metal....then get a custom top made from a shop?

Actually, you can just unbolt the Targa Bar and pull it off. I only put mine on if I'm planning on using the doors, otherwise it just gets stuck on things. Like Trees and rocks. :P
For a top, I usually run a soft top that has had the sides cut out of it. Or just a Bikini top and tie it down to the roll cage. If you want a soft top that will snap down and fit snug against your roll cage then your best bet would be a custom made one. If you have a Marine shop nearby they could probable suggest someone who can make a nice top for you.
It looks like this guy is running Jeep YJ canvas half doors as well, a few people have taken old Samurai doors and cut them down to have a hard style instead of canvas.
