Title: 1987 Samurai T-case problem
Post by: John L. on February 05, 2007, 02:03:00 PM
Something happend to my 4lo.  Everything else works properly.  My front and rear wheels pull in 4hi and 4lo and only the rear pull in 2 wd. There aren't any noises, when in 2wd 4 hi or 4 lo, the only symptom is 4 lo ain't lo any more (if that makes sense). It happened while driving in 4 lo. I was driving along and realized something felt different (I didn't feel a pop or hear anything), shifted to 4hi and didn't notice any difference, then back to 4lo and still couldn't tell any difference. I am getting the same speed at the same rpm in the same gear in both 4hi and 4 lo. Any ideas?

Thanks

the fork is probably not attached to the shifting rod.  the roll pin either fell out or broke.

Thanks,
Do I have to tear the t-case down to fix that or can I get to it from the top?  I don't have any experience with a t-case.

Thanks

Tearing down Tcase is not all that dificult. Before you pull it check shifter bushing ontop of case were shiter is. Had similar problem. Wont let shifter engauge 4lo all the way. Hope this helps.
