Title: Gas cap - hisssss

My fuel cap makes a hissing noise when I turn it to put gas in the 96 Tracker ::). This has been going on for a while now and someone told me that it should not happen. Said that it may cause problems with the fuel pump. Does your Tracker make this noise when you open the gas cap ???????

its fine....
ur gas tank is under pressure, all it is if the pressure equalizing from the tank to the outside when u open up the airway...

Mine does it too.

The coolest thing to do is have a lighter next to it when it does that.  Man, what a blast that makes.

Nope, You guys dont know nothing! It did not go "caboom". It went "pop / click / click"! I tried it last night when I went to get gas. I opened the gas cap cover, pulled out my trusty lighter, and the guy next to me said "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING"? I said that the guys on zukiworld told me that "doing this is normal"! He said "MAN, YOU ARE *&^#ING NUTS"! Well I dont know about you guys, but I be damned if I'm going to let someone talk to me like that! I went over and told him "IF I'M *&^#ING NUTS, YOUR A *&^#ING |removethispart|@!!HOLE"!  The fight was on, my lighter fell out of my pocket and exploeded (popped) on the pavement and then the cops showed up and put the cuffs on me (click / click). I spent most of the afternoon in jail answering questions. The funny thing is, everytime the cop asked me "What were you going to do with the lighter?", I'd tell him and he would say "MAN, ARE YOU *&^#ING NUTS"?
Thanks guy's, they took my Tracker from me, I have'nt had a smoke in 2 days because they took my lighter from me too, and my wife keeps telling me "YOUR *&^#ING NUTS! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Ha!! The cops asked you questions? Ours just beat the piss out of you and then clean you up for the mug shot! It takes 5 or six of them to do it too.
