Title: clutch question
Post by: jaybyrd92 on February 12, 2007, 11:39:35 AM
I have recently bought a clutch kit for my samurai. It has the clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and an alignment tool.

On some kits there is also a pilot bearing. Is this a part I will need? if so why didn't it come in the kit I bought? And why wasn't it on the clutch I took out?

the pilot bearing is in the flywheel. and some kits come with it and some dont. a cheap ones only about $5.00 If your changing the clutch i would resuface the flywheel and pop out the old bearing and put a new one in so it wont need to be doen and no problems its up to you. hope that helped a lil

Yep, you may as well change out the pilot bearing while your there! Cheap, inexpensive insurance. One thing that 1badzuk mentioned is "get the flywheel resurfaced". Do that too! That insures that everything is taken care of while your working on that area!

Thanks guys! I'll go ahead and get the bearing and have the flywheel resurfaced.

Buy some rubbing alchohol and use it on the flywheel to remove any oil on it. (finger prints) before you put it together.
