Here is some info about toyota drive shafts.
79-85 drive shafts have a High angle front CV style drive shaft. (79-85 is the year to get)
the 86 and up have a front CV style drive in the front but they are not high angle ones.
But you can take them apart and clearence them so they will with a full 35 degrees of movement (thats what the 79-85s are)

The rear drive shaft is not a CV styal drive shaft, i think they are all the same for all years but i could be wrong.

Here are some pics of a CV styal and Non CV style Drive shaft.

Hope this helps out at least a little bit.

thank you, great info!

one more Q:  are these toy drive shafts off the front of the truck or the rear, sounds like the front?  thanks.

The picture of the CV syle drive shaft is a front toyota drive shaft.
yotas dont come with a rear CV drive shaft.

86 to (i forgot the ending year) is a really common year to find in junk yard.  The front drive shaft can save you a lot of money, just have to modify it a little bit.

There is a step by step article on some site, ill have to find it again.  But it was very good, showed how to do everything.
