Hey Guys
I blew a cv joint the other night and I'm thinking of doing the Mike Hagen Widening mod with the Maxima cv's.
Does anyone have some completed pictures of this mod on their rig? I've been looking in the archives and searching but haven't found what i want yet. I'm not completely understanding the mod yet.
Thanks

PM 37kicker. He has a toyota conversion that will make factory CV's available if you ever break one. With the Maximas, they are strong but if you ever snap one you have to custom make another.

I just did the widening mod with a custom kit for the toyota CV's. I would try and go toyota truck CV's instead of maxima;s with all the guys going solid axle with toyotas you can get the CV's and hubs for free!!!
The widening was easy but you will have to remove the diff to get room for a drill in there.

Thanks for the info, I'll try Stan then to see what he has. I read a bit about his but I was hoping to do it on the cheap with junkyard parts. You bring up a good point about replacements using off the shelf items. I'll pm him to find more.
Any pics of your finished product on the trackick Chet? I would appreciate if you could put a few up.
Thanks Agian

Thanks Zukipilot, I pm'd Satn but haven't heard back yet. How does Stan's kit work, only with the widening mod or as stock?

I have Stans axle mod in my kick without the widening mod. It was a bit tight, but it works. Oh, and that's with an Anvil.

Do a search on Stans posts or Toyota conversion, etc.... I personally am running the Maxima set up so I do not have first hand experiance with the Kit. But alot of people here have used it with good results.
Stan spends alot more time in the shop than on the web, so it may take a few days for him to get back to you. PM MikeRPM4x4 too. Mike can let Stan know that you are interested in one of his kits.

;D IF "Sat'n" answers back you better pray!

I found a pic of it on the site here, it's a nice bit of machining he's done. I'll try that other e-mail. Thanks Zukipilot.

We figured out that the calmini kits equipt with an anvil do not need to be widened. We havent done a calmini equipt rig without the anvil but I dont belive it would require a widening either. The Calmini arms are slightly longer to correct camber which is just enough to fit the extra length of the toy cv.

Put a straight axle under that thing? ::)

Thought about the SAS, and may do it one day. But for now I would like to keep the IFS and see what you can get out of it. These mods sound good and they are already running 37's with it. Realistically I'll never go that big, even with an SAS. I like the idea if the ford 9" rear end with the 5.83 in it and then the matching 5.83 from calmini in the front with the IFS set up.

So, does anyone have completed pics of the widening mod, meaning both sides so I can have a good look at it? I want ot see exactly what's been done before I start it.
Thanks
