That would be about 70mph for me!!  They're too light and get to floatin' about 65.  I have no back seat and not enough lead in my bum to hold it on the ground!!  The sound of the squirrels under the hood screamin' is no comfort either!

Mine was scary as hell even |removethispart|@ 65 to 70 on the interstate, but after 4 new tires, an alignment and new shocks/brakes it's all good now up to around 90

I saw this on-line somewhere cause I know it is wrong to exceed
the local mph. ;)
I think it was said to be on a 4dr with 31"s

About 99 on the speedo, I was willing it on to the ton but then the motorway stopped going downhill and stated going back up again  ;D. That was when it was about 6 months old, all stock, around 6K on the clock. Now its lifted with 33s its a slower and the speedo reads lower too - also the high speed handling isn't up to much  :(. Its a lot more entertaining on a bumpy road, especially when its windy.
Mines a 2000 model 1.6 8V, they'd stopped making the 16V version by then.

In my 4-door 95 w/ a 1.6/16, I have buried the speedo with ease - I'm guessing just over 100 MPH.  And at that speed, she still handles fine.  Now my trail rig on 33's - I know I have had her up to 75, at least.

;) Regularly hit 80mph, had the speedo buried once with the turbo just to see if it could. Too scary to keep it there!

they deffinatly are light, specially on a windy day. but it makes it that much more entertaining. i usually just start off in the slow lane on the highway, and miraculously end up in the fast lane.. i dont think on purpose though.. im suprised i havent been pulled over yet .knowck on wood, i was followin a state cop doin 85 and he didnt even care, and theCT state cops can be pretty harsh. usually like 7 miles over the limit, your gettin pulled over. but i figured hey, hill... straightaway, and even someone in front of me to move traffic out of my way, why not go for it. i was a little nervous though, but nothin happened..

This reminds me of a letter to the editor in a hot rod magazine in the early '60s.  Some kid wanted to know how to make his VW go over 100 mph.  The editor suggested driving it over a nearby cliff.

I once saw a picture taken of the speedo of a red X-90 that had the speedo burried down to where it was covering the decimal position on the odometer  >:D But the owner stated it handled alot better than a stock Kick/Tracker due to it's Calmini 2" lift, wheel spacers and street tires  ;D.

I'll see if I can find the picture somewhere, but I think the owner lost it when his laptop crashed a few months ago.  ::)

I'v had my 2dr 1.6 8v 3speed auto up to 95 - 100mph And she was screeming at 5600-5700RPMs and handling was smooth, loud as hell but she was smooth .  I regularly drive about 75mph. The looks I get from people as i pass them are priceless. ;D

yea, passing people is fun in a 4dr goin bout 80-85. specially the good lookin girls who have their little civics or maximas, i just give em a stare down and punch it. totally priceless.. but worth it. although punching it doesnt make a difference, it still makes me think that i want to go faster, but i know it might take a while..   also to Costa, ive had it to about 110 still runnin fairly low rpm(5500) around there. but didnt know how much more i can push it before i really break somethin

On my way to Moab a few years ago I traveling with my freind Chunk. I had 35s on my Tracker and he was driving a Superduty with a v10. On the way down the rocky mountains out of the eisenhower tunnel I passed him cause his SD was hitting the speed limitter at I belive 108mph. I kept the hammer down till he was nowhere in site.  >:D He cought back up after a 1/2 hour or so on the uphill ::) then I drafted him till the next downhill ;) I was at redline for nearly a half an hour. I can assure you that my engine does not have any carbon in it. ;D I often wonder how much longer that motor is going to put up with me. Over 220000miles on it (200K from me) and still not a single oil leak and it still runs like new. It has picked up a little smoking habit... isnt that what all the cool kids are doing these days anyways? :-X Kidding, Im thinking of getting it the patch

well that didnt last long. i guess knockin on wood doesnt help.. i got my first speeding ticket lastnight. parents took the keys. i guess its better off, i would end up killin myself in it. but, it still sucks. he clocked me goin 65 in a 30. but wrote down on the ticket 50 cuz i guess anything above that would be wreckless driving, but i was driving good ;D came out to be $175. not worth it.

my samurai will cruze at 60-65, 70-75 with a wind at the rear, and the killer of all killers 45-50 with a head wind haha.

All the people with sammi's know how much fun it is to drive when theres a strong head wind or cross wind.

I cleared 105 easily at roughly 70% throttle, but the top was so noisy I got a little nervous!  No idea what the little brick will do.  Do the XL-7s have a governor?
