Title: input bearing on samurai
Post by: carpmike21 on February 24, 2007, 03:07:47 PM
My tranny just started whining at idle with the clutch pedal depressed.  It continues to whine until I completely take my foot off the clutch (whining dies down, goes away in a few seconds).  I realize this is most likely an issue with the throwout/release bearing and I plan on picking up a clutch kit (clutch/plate/pilot and release bearing) to fix it.

My car is a completely stock, '88 samurai.

From what I understand, its also possible that the noise is coming from the input bearing.  Either way, if I'm going to have the tranny out and apart, I might as well replace this bearing too.

My question is this:
Does anyone know if any place sells the input bearing by itself?

I know you can pick up just the pilot bearing, or just the throwout/release bearing, but all I can find are input bearings as part of a tranny overhaul kit (with stuff I don't need).

If anyone knows where I can pick one up, I'd appreciate it. thanks
