Title: Trackick duel t case
Post by: bentparts on February 27, 2007, 04:24:54 AM
Did a quick search of the archives and couldn't find a write up or info on a duel tcase set up for a Trackick. I have a nice spare T case out of my parts car, limited cash, and I'm looking for lower gearing for crawling. I've read about the duel t case option, and am curious how it works. Would I still need to change the gearing in the second case? Has anyone done it with write up and photos? Thanks

I think Heather Galvin has a Toyota transfer case behind her Suzuki transfer case.

In Lo-Lo she gets something like 270:1...

That would probably be enough! I'm trying to figure out if I can use my spare Trackick case somehow.

Will that tcase bolt up or is there some serious modding going on?

Well, I KNOW there's an adapter from OTT Industries, and there may also be some mod work.

heather has a samurai tcase behind the sidekick case. this is called a kicker3 a kicker2 is a toyota case behind a sidekick case. both from OTT most people tend to use only the sidekick reduction box for a dual and another tcase for the second part. this does away with the stupid slip yokes!

:-\ Getting complicated, Maybe I'll just try and sell the extra 5 speed trans and t case, or trade 'em for some  low ratio t case gears.

It's a Sammy case behind my Kick case. I have Toyota axles though!  ;)

Sometimes I wish I would have gotten the Kicker 2 instead of the Kicker 3.

I *had* like 200:1 in low-low, before I got rid of my 4.24 sidekick gears. I'm now down to something like 70:1.  :P I'm going to be getting some gears for the sammy case soon, though, probably the 6.5:1's, and then I'll be back up there. I need the sammy gears for the extra reduction in 2 high.

Anyway. How are ya Bob? I need a pager or something when someone mentions me on forums. I can't seem to track them all. I don't hang out in here as much as I used to.  :-[

Oh, man - 70:1 is not that great!  I'm at 90:1!  Yeah, the Sammi 6.5:1 will definitely help with that!

I'm doing good!  I'll be doing a pre-run of Hotel Rock, near Monticello (south of Moab) the end of march!
How is Idaho treating you?

Good! Got some serious sand under my feet. Haven't been outdoors for a while now. Need to go skiing, or wheeling, or something.

Oh, great.  Stan, I think I'm going to have to move you to Colorado.  Of course, if you had two stock Kick cases, lo-lo would only be 3.24:1, where I currently have 4.24:1 in lo, so that wouldn't be great.  Of course, if I had 1.8:1 and 4.24:1... and put my diffs back to 5.125, then lo-lo first would be over 140:1!

Now if I had Stan's Ford 9" front and rear, with the 5.83's...  Oh, this could go on forever!

We are working a doubler right now. The protype should be done this weekend. I will start a thread on it as soon as I get the cases back. Oh and this is set-up to run a dana 300 on the back. It's a lot of weight but you get twinstick. Should work for both the manual and auto trans. I'll keep you posted!
Dana 300 is 2.62:1 and you can buy 4:1 gears for them pretty reasonable.
Still would only give you 4.7 gear reduction with out aftermarket gears but you should never break it for sure!
