Title: Caveat Emptor

I'm peeved, so I won't say a lot.  On a website last week I found what I figured were pretty good prices on a roof rack.  The prices were advertised good until the end of the month.  I copied and pasted them to a word processor file.  Yesterday I tried to order them and the prices went up about 10% or so.  The company refused to honor the earlier prices, so I will look elsewhere.  The moral of the story is don't delay when you find a deal you like.

I think that another Latin phrase is more appropriate for this...

Carpe Dealum...

Which means Deal the Fish, I think...

Now, back to the complaint.  Name them.   Dealers must be made to realize that word of mouth, and bending the rules now and then is the way to do business. 

They probably lost more business by losing you as a customer by far, than the lousy 10% they refused to honor.

That is bad business in anyone's book.

Is there no law about this? In the UK they would be fined for false advertising if reported.

I suspect they got caught between the proverbial rock and hard place.  A look at prices on the web makes me think that Thule prevents their dealers from cutting their prices below a certain point.  Either Thule raised their prices after the company posted their sale prices or someone in the company screwed up.  At any rate, I won't be dealing with them.  The outfit is located in Utah, as I recall, and has a name like boondocks, or some such thing.
