>:( >:( >:( I went to change the gear oil in my 5spd today and barely got the fill plug out, but the drain plug won't move at all and is starting to strip out.
What can I do?
I put the oil pump in backwards and sucked about 1qt out..
So now I have about half synth and half reg... will it hurt it?
-
You could try and heat it up a little bit, dont over heat it, Another thing you could do is stick a hose inthe dif and suck out the fuilds by sucking the fuilds out, if u do decide to rty the hose thing, make sure the hose of touch the bottom of the dif, and i would take it for a little drive around the block to warm up the fuild so it comes up easier. Not sure it any of these will work but doesnt hurt to try. Good luck.

this works every time, just requires a welder:
tack weld a bolt to the old plug, then just use a ratchet on it to remove. ;D ;D Of course, your gonna have to order a new plug to replace the old one but, thats only like 4 bucks from Suzuki/Chevy
-
Did you try tightening it first to break it free.I'm a tech and this works. :D
-
Tried to tighten and loosen but nothing worked. >:( My arms and shoulder is sore now from trying for so long.... I swear I was under there for atleast a half hour trying to push, pull and fight the stupid thing.
I don't have a welder so that isn't an option...
I know I'm gonna have to get a new plug but I still need the old one out. ???

try some penatrent. pipe wrench with cheater pipe

tryed WD-40 but I'm still worried about stripping the plug out. I couldn't find a cheater pipe lieing around or I would have tried it. Though there isn't much room to move the rachet.

get some of that catalyst pennatrent
-
WD40 isn't as good of a penetrant as it's mythos makes it out to be.
I prefer PB'laster and have heard others are good. The Justice Brothers brand has a good reputation from what I have heard.
The welding idea sounds like a good one to me.
My '93 did something similar. It developed a leak in the t-case seals so I decided to top it off...only to find out the drain plug came out a-ok but the fill plug was seized in it's threads. Even with a cheater bar all I managed to do was lift myself off the ground before I rounded out plug. I got pissed and sold the thing to a kid since I was getting ready to sell it anyways. Whoops...

I'm in the same boat! If I was that mad though I would have a 02 XL-7 in my drive right now.
99 Tracker is still there. :'(

have you tried an impact wrench???????
-
Push comes shove.
Weld a bolt in the end of it and then use a big wrench
-
haven't tried an impact wrench cause I don't have an impact wrench. Or air compressor or garage or a level flat surface not covered in water and mud >:(
Or a welder or know anyone that has any of these things either. >:( >:(
-
the syn won't hurt the reg. If it runs bring it to a shop and a) have them impact it out or b) weld it or put penetrating oil on it for several days and then give it another go
-
Had the same problem with mine. Heat it up with a torch (even a small propane one will work) and then give it a shot. Worked just fine on mine.

i seccond getting PB blaster ( thats the name of the product) hit it with it once and hour for a few hours it should come out =-) i used it on my stuck O2 sensor.
