Title: Are 4x4 and 4x2 Trackick manual trans interchangable?

I swapped my Tracker to 4x4 and the transmission I got is noisey.Will the 4x2 one I took out work if I swap the tail section over that mounts the transfercase? ???

i think u can,, can't remember if the splines were different or not,, but i'm pretty sure u can...

I know they look alike but don't want to rip it all apart and find out it won't work. :-\

I was thinking they were different.  I don't think you can just swap tailhousings.  I think the difference is in the output shaft.....either length, spline or both.  But I can't remember for sure.
