i think that in order to use the 16v head on the 8v block, you need the pistons out of the 16v engine. you would also need to use the 16v fuel injection, at the least. in my opinion, just do the full 16v swap.

If your 1.3 is in good condition then a header and carb will give a big power increase. Otherwise I would go for the full 16V engine, the bottom end is much stronger than the 1.3.

Throw the zuk motor away and go toy if you want more hp but it is truly amazing how hard you can run the zuk motor just like a timex it takes a licken and keeps on ticken

Yep if the 1.3 is in decent condition, Ive had a 1.3 SPOA samurai with 31x10.5 pull 70-75 MPH no problems all stock motor.  Now there are some cheap things u can do like KN airfilter, lighter underdrive pulley, all this does make a difference Ive done it on 2 sammys.  But the best mods you can do for it is tracker/kick ring a pinion grears in the sammy diffs, and a weber.

I have done this on my most recent samurai and its nice to be holding 7-75 in 5th gear.
