what have people done?
what is easiest? or cheapest?
what parts are easily obtainable?
and how's the easiest way to adapt them on a vit?
i've broken 4 CV joints in as many outings. i'm kinda getting tired of chasing left hand side shafts.
thanks

Here is a place to start; http://bbs.zuwharrie.com/index.php/topic,52575.0.html
Do a search on the subject, there is a lot of material out there on this.

Or you could try this mod.

I think I may do one of these mods when I run out of spare standard CV's. :)

i'm already running two left hand side shafts, but the left hand shaft on the right hand side bottoms out sometimes. i need to widen my vit a la hagen widening.
i know all about the chopping bit, but how does the outer fit into the vit hub, lockout, and spindle? how are they the same when you need to machine out the spindle when using yota shafts?
EDIT: ok, ok, i got it now. you chop the inner 3 bolt flange, and you chop the outer bell to use the outer shaft. and you need to weld them onto the donor shaft. ok, i see now.
so now i need to go and measure how long my cv shafts are, and see if i can find some donor shafts the same-ish length.

Yeah that's it. :)
I am thinking of some Toyota Prado, as the inner CV uses 3 ball races instead of 6 ball bearings, hard to explain, but they look real tough. The Mitsubishi Pajero also use a very similar 3 bolt flange, this might make the mod easier. These are just things that I have seen and stored in my memory bank for future use. :)
