Title: Goodbye Grand Vitara...
Post by: AZ Grand Vitara on March 11, 2007, 12:25:41 AM
Well, I did it.  I traded the GV in today for an '06 Jeep Liberty Sport - Light Khaki Metallic - Auto - 4WD.

My initial impressions of the Liberty are:

- it feels heavier and more solid than the GV
- the ride is not as smooth as the GV, it's more truck like
- while it has a bigger engine than the GV, it's a tad slower off the line
- the Liberty does not have all the bells and whistles as the GV (auto temp control, auto headlights and other little things)

My first order of business is to get some new wheels and some all terrain tires

The GV was a nice ride, but for doing some mild to medium rated trails, the Liberty suits my needs better than the GV did.

You guys take it easy, I'll still be checking in here now and then, and if anyone is ever in the Phoenix area, give me a shout and maybe we could do some trails.

What did you get for the trade in?

What did you get for the trade in?

I got $15,250 on trade which is good for a year old Base 2WD GV with almost 24k miles.  I took it in the shorts for a few grand, but I knew that would happen.  Sorry to say, the Suzuki brand is not a plus for the GV. Even in Japan Suzuki, suffers from being rated either 5th or 6th  behind Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mazda and Isuzu.

There's a guy around here with a simple but snazzy looking Liberty.  He either has a spacer lift or something like OME's setup for about 1-2" and some slightly bigger than stock Cooper ST's on it.  I see it all the time and that setup really makes them look a lot meaner.

When we had to replace our GV in December there was a used diesel Liberty for sale at the local Jeep dealership...it sold less than 3 hours after being put on the lot.  The guy said they had calls on it from 5 states away.  I like our Suzukis but man, I'd LOVE a small diesel...anyways, nice Lib. 8)

Yeah, they sell like crazy here in Arizona.

Thanks for the kudos on my KJ.  I went out today and bought larger wheels, better off road tires and full skids for the engine, transfer case, transmission and the fuel tank.  JEEP... Just Empty Every Pocket.

Oh, I saw my GV sitting at the Chrysler/Jeep dealer when I was over there ordering the skids.  It was a good ride and I was sorry to see it just sitting there waiting for a new home.  They had it marked for sale at $17,000. I wonder how long it will sit on the lot?

So you expected a decent resale value for a 2wd SUV?  Find me one that does.  I don't know anyone who would want any SUV that was 2wd.

Wow, your first post here and it's:

1 - Rude
and
2 - in a thread that's been dead for over a year!

Nope, that would require me to be thankful for your rude and useless bit of thread archaeology.

This being such an active forum, I'm glad you took the time out of your busy schedule to correct me.  I thank you.  As far as being rude, I was pointing out a fact.  I'll try and be more warm and fuzzy for the future.

Dude, you should just let this go.  But since you haven't, and are now trying to defend your 1st -- useless and asinine -- post, let's take another look at it.

First of all, you were responding to a long-dead post.  Second, you did so with nothing to offer.  Except for idiocy.

Why "idiot"?  Well, the quote you were responding to was "I took it in the shorts for a few grand, but I knew that would happen."

What part of "I took it in the shorts for a few grand, but I knew that would happen" led you to believe that the guy expected decent resale value?  Your snarky comment demonstrated, mainly,  that your comprehension skills suck.

That just goes to show that you must not get out much.

2 out of 3 ain't good, Fuzzball.  But if you up that average a bit you'll find this a very accommodating forum.

Beercheck makes a good point... Gv's cool and what not... This site mostly jas kick and sami guys/gals on it... If you are interested in a site with more 06 + GV action, you should check out metatrox.net. I go by element on that site as well... Since I got rid of my GV, I am rarely over there...

Jerry!!!
