Title: Roof Rack
Post by: nuts4hotwheels on March 16, 2007, 04:52:10 AM
If you have a roof rack, where did you get it?  Do you know where I can get an OEM roof rack.  I want a rack to carry stuff but I don't really want to drill holes in the roof to mount it.

Thanks

I'm going through the same exercise.  The two big names are Yakima and Thule.  Yakima no longer makes the adapters for my '98, so they might not have one for yours.  Thule lists the parts for mine, but they are pricey.  Basic bars list at about $250 US.  Discounts greater than about 10% are nonexistent.  Sportrack makes a less expensive rack, but I have been unable to find a website that sells them.  They are apparently available only in Canada.  Google the names to find sellers or the manufacturers' websites.  Good luck.  If you find something better, let us know.

I called a dealer about getting a factory roof rack and I was told that they are discontinued.  I am thinking about hitting the junk, I mean salvage yards.  I will probably have trouble finding a factory roof rack though.  I am thinking about just going out and looking at different vehicles at the salvage yard and finding a roof rack that I like.

I feel lucky. My roof rack came standard with my car. I bought my zuki from my uncle, who had it put on when he bought it. This, along with the brush guard. (AKA deer smasher ;) )
