Title: jumping gears
Post by: DAC1138 on March 18, 2007, 09:16:13 PM
I was just wondering what happens to the engine if you skip gears. The other day I was driving, and I thought I was in third gear, but I was still in second and I jumped from second to forth. I was revving it so high, which is how (after switching gears) I realised I was still in second. The only thing that happened was the RPMs dropped to an average speed and I continued as normal. In second gear, as I've stated, I was revving it pretty high and I was going about 35-40 mph, which is about what I use for 4th gear anyway. What happens internally if I do this? Is it bad for the engine or gearbox?
