My clubs Yahoo board blew up with posts last night. Rumor has it that a couple of well built Sami's form Sparta (neighboring Town) is going to attend our christmas ride this Saturday. They are "Driven by a couple of cocky guys that need to be brought down a few notches".
Needless to say I started talking $hit to the Jeep and cab-truck guys and have them all fired up about beating the Zuks.
This place is real tough, I have attempted two different trails that Rhyn made.
Attempt 1: The "B" trail (named after a female dog ::) claimed 3 of my 4 axles in a very short time.
Attempt 2: Slightly easier trail, snapped a rear axle and trashed carrier.
Attempt 3: will be this saturday. Now equiped with the Maxima shafts and a Ford 9" I think my breakage will be limited.
I'll take lots of pics and let you'll know who wins the battle ;D

good luck mate , Saturday is a good day for me too as my T case should arrive with a set of calmini low gears in side . hitting the trail sunday early :-)
Will have pics too

You will love it. I was amazed at the difference when I did my 4:1. I spent the first ride pulling up to hills and seeing how far I could make it without touching the gas petal before the motor would stall ;D

Oh yea, I'm gonna need it :o If the guys in the big jeeps and cab trucks try it, I've gotta be right in there too. That is usually where I end up heading bac to the shop to fix something :P. For some reason I have a hard time hanging with V-8 cab trucks and jeeps on 40+ tries. I'll let you know how the new set up holds up to lots of throttle and bouncing up rocks ;D

Well, I made it back with no carnage. Did not hold up to the big rigs though :P We had a blast, but the rocks were just to big. :o
I showed up 1 hr. late and the last truck was just getting to the top of the first trail (100 yards long gully of rocks) I pulled up on the bypass so I would not hold up the group and we could continue up the second section, but the club would have none of that. I went back down to the bottom of the hill and started up the obsticle. I mad it about 1/2 way before hitting a ledge that I could not get over. After hitting it hard 4-5 times I pulled the cable. As soon as I unhooked I started over another ledge and wedged a rock between the gas tank and rear axle and had to winch again. Once out of that I mad the second section with no trouble (lot easier section of loose rocks) and it was off to the 'B' trail. After watching a cab truck and a Jeep on 44's have to winch over the ledge I decided not to try it :P For some reason, muddy rocks and a 10-12 foot drop-off you have to crab walk across did not seem like a fun thing to do.
I got to see one of the Samis ride (sp over, 31's, welded rear and a heave right foot). That thing rocked. I was amazed at where all he took that thing 8) The other one was a Toyota equiped sami (motor, running gear, axles, everything). He was to far ahead of me in the line to see it on the trail. Maybe next time :-/

Oh yea, and the attitude comment was made to get a bunch of the big rigs out to ride. Those guys were cool as hell 8)

Hey Zig glad you had a good time, get the pics up so we can see ya in action! ;D M.Z.

All I can say about our trip is 3 sami's cutting cookies at the same time in the snow, multiple spinouts while drifting along icy roads, and a lava flow rock crawl. Oh and eric having a 100mph rear wheel speed while pulling brodies.

As long as you didn't break anything, nor trailer it there, nor spend $$$ on a tow rig, trailer, and the vehicle itself. That there shall say alot about anyone's vehicle driven to the trail, doing the trail, and driving home no matter what the make (up) of it.
As for making decisions on the trail as the capability of your rig, that is the best driving on the trail. No one wants to go out and run like you stole it (unless that's your intention). That's just me.
After seeing some of the damage on the UA filming, I'd have to say, they are driving the vehicles for the video/mag. Seems damage pervails over ability. Not in my book. That's what makes Mike's story so much better. Taking only a slight ding on his gas door (IIRC), last day. Although taking an engine apart to run on 7 cylinders..........
