heya guys... i'm just about to go pick up an 8v vitara which i plan to steal the engine out of for my new sami build... i know that normally when doing this engine swap you put the oil sump from the 1300 onto the 1600 otherwise it catches on the axle or sommit...
but... if i do a quick SPOA lift... i wont have this problem.. therefore wont need to change the oil sump.. and will save time... (being the impatient little b*gger i am)
but i wasn't sure if doing the SPOA will mean i need to change steering componants? i'm not really gonna be driving it like this... just have to tow it home from the workshop...
so in short... do i need to change anything on the steering if i do an SPOA lift? (could have just said that in the first place eh!)
Cheers in advance, and as always, any info welcomed!

At the very least you need to add to your cross-over bar, but the bump steer will be horrible. I would spend the extra money and get an over the top steering setup. Both Trail Tough and Rock-Road have them available. Or you can build your own, someone posted a steering setup made using the steering arms from a junkyard Merc a while back.

yeah i'd seen some some of those parts on the net, and i will be fitting them at a later date, along with the calmini 5" shackle reverse, so i know i will need to change all the steering set up with those mods.
i was just wondering if SPOA can be done with changing the steering at all... it only needs to steer so i can tow it home from the workshop really...
can this be done? or will i need to adapt the steering...
cheers for the reply tho...

just been looking through the Rocky Road site...
I'll be ordering the calmini 5" Shackle reverse kit hopefull this weekend.... and will be doing SPOA along with this... so thats about 10" of lift...
would this be the right steering whatever to use to make everything good again? or is it gonna be more complicated then this.... http://www.rocky-road.com/zlink.html
my last sami had SPOA and 2" springs, and i got a mate to fab up a new steering bar, but it bent quite often...

10" of lift? What are you trying to put under it? I would think Suzuki axles would explode with anything over 35"...
A really large Z bar can be fabbed up in your garage if you do it right, but you will get a lot of bump steer and bend it easily. You are just putting a lot of force on the bar, there is really no way around it. There is probably someone on the sight that has run with a similar system for a while that could fill you in. But it would be enough to get you home.
