When I lifted and re-geared the transfer-case, I flipped the shifter boot, and made the opening in the hump much larger, to gain access to everything - then I made a dimaond-plate cover for it, with cut-outs for the shifters. Here's a photo of it, after Mrs. Bobzooki got loose with the purple spray-paint.

Nice, Bob!
I'm thinking about doing something similar. I've got three stick holes in there now, and it's pretty much just bare floor, plates, and rubber there in the center. I've been wanting to make a console for a while. Maybe this summer. :)

Well, I cut the hump out with a sawzall, about 10 inches wide, and from behind the transfer case, to in front of the transmission shifter. I screwed THAT to the back of the diamondplate, to serve as a stiffener, and as a hole-cutting guide. Then I pounded the diamondplate onto the hump with a big rubber mallet, and screwed it down.

With all that pounding and screwing, it almost sounds like we should call an XXX film company.
