Title: Samurai Questions
Post by: kawasakikid on April 11, 2007, 04:01:54 PM
Well I just bought a 88 Samurai that is bone stock.  I wanted to get some info on it such as what size ring gear in the rear and such.  Also what would be a good start for a lift.  I didt know if going with the SPOA would be the best and keep the stock springs or with the jeep springs.(not sure what model)  Thanks Phillip

Congrads on the new sammi. Stock ring and pinion is 3:73's

Lift all depends on what you are looking to do with it.

Yj were produced from the late 80's to the mid 90's and came with spring packs with 4, 5 and 6 springs per pack. Usually you will find a stock set consisting of two 5 spring packs and two 4 spring packs.

Anything over a 31" tire and you will be looking for gears.

I will say that there is deffinetely a lot more vendor and private support and products for the samurais and tracker/sidekicks now then there was 10 years ago so your options are unlimited.

Alright well I guess this would be another dumb question, we have a 78' CJ-5 and just bought new 4'' lift springs, would these by chance fit, didt know if it only could be the YJ springs

Moving the Rear Spring Up Front and putting the front CJ springs in the rear has been done a few times.  I know someone out there sells a kit...
