This is on my '96 with the 16v and the 3 speed non-OD auto.
All of a sudden today the throttle keeps sticking at around 2500-3000 rpm. I seem to be able to stop it by shifting into neutral and stabbing the gas a time or three. Damn annoying right now, potentially troublesome.
I did forget to put my oil cap back on after an oil change this morning and spewed oil all over the back portion of the engine...
...put on a new cap and all is well. The sticking has only occured since I spilled the oil...related?
Clean and go?
I'd have already done this but I'm all purty now waiting for a job interview so I'm waisting time by picking your brains.

check the cable as it enters the fire wall. Sometimes the cable insulation likes to break right there and the cable hangs up on it.

Ditto. That happened to me, thankfully I was in the sand dunes so there were no dire consequences. :o

Guess where I found the old oil cap?
Wedged next to the throttle on top of the engine. Dunno how it got there or how I missed it yesterday...
Works fine now. Thanks guys!

Paint the oil cap bright orange so you don't forget to put it on again, or if you do forget, you'll be able to see it easily.

:) Was that job interview at Jiffy Lube? Just Kidding, good luck at the interview!

Actually no, it's a shipping and receiving position...even pays more than the place I got laid off at. 8)
I think I'll just try not to rush through oil changes like the last one. Got called for the interview in an hour and a half while I was 1/3 into the oil change. At least I have a spare now. :P
