anyone else had this problem? i still have the occasional click starter but it's becomming a rarity again. however on a VERY cold night. my tranny is frozen in place the next morning. any ideas? i just changed the tranny fluid and it's still froze. as in i can't move the shifter from *example. parked in 1st. can't shift out of left holding side. only from 1st, 2nd, and left neutral* or if it's parked in reverse i only got reverse, 5th, and right neutral. any ideas? im kinda stuck on this one ??? not only that im not the only one having this problem. i know bigrubbers4x4 is as well. he started to mention it and i cut him off because im having the same problem! help

pull the boot off of your shifter and then take off the lower boot, pull the bolt holding your shifter in and pull it out looking for water and or dirt and a bad lower boot, check your shift sheet(plastic thingy)make sure it is not worn thin, if not grease it real good with some molly type grease and put it back together, how cold is cold? it's 15 deg. here.  also pull the spring loaded detents in the shift tower apart and grease then real good.

ya id use some good grease put lots on it, would the spring on the actual shifter have anything to do with it?

not the top spring but the two on the sides might? mine was missing a clamp on the smaller boot. make sure you have one or use some wire or a good zip tie.

We had this problem and it sucked.
Moisture/mud in the shift housing on the top of the tranny. (improperly placed boot)
Took the tranny out, took off the shifter housing, cleaned it up, regreased, no more problem.
