Title: Head Bolt Torque and Pattern
Post by: speedytang on May 01, 2007, 08:41:01 PM
I need the bolt tighten sequence. I do remember that it is 54ftlbs but don't own a Tracker book since everything is of simple design. Thanks.

go to your local auto parts store and buy a chilton or haynes manual.
thats the first thing i did when i got my sammi.
it gives you everything you need to do anything.

Those repair manuals are a waste of time. They are such a simple design and all I need is the head bolt torque pattern not worth the $20 for one item.

They often stock chilton and haynes repair manuals at the library if you don't want to throw down for one...

No auto part store has the Tracker repair manual and the library was a bust also. Can some scan the bolt torque pattern for me. I am pulling the head in the morning and still need the pattern. Thanks

AFAIK all torque patterns are the same, you start with the inner most bolts and then work outwards in a diagonal pattern. It doesn't really matter which ones you do first as long as you follow that pattern. Torque the bolts down a bit at a time and then repeat the sequence. The Track/Kick manual is downloadable at :

The torque setting is 51-54ft.lbs. It is important to note that the threads on the bolts should be given a thin coating of clean engine oil. If you don't do this you won't get the correct torque.
