Hello all, As you can see I am new to the forum. I have a 94 Samurai that I want to put 30 x 9.5 tires on. I am installing a Calmini 3.5 inch combo suspension kit. Most of my driving will be on road. My question is, will performance suffer from using larger tires and should I change the gear set.
Thanks in advance for any insight anybody can provide.

I had 31x11.50's on mine with stock gearing. 5th gear was pretty much usless on the highway, unless I was goind downhill. Cruising speed didn't really change, it was 55mph with stock tires, and the same with the 31's, just in 4th gear instead of 5th. It did fine off-road, once I put it in 4-Lo it had plenty of snort to spin the tires with ease.

THANKS!

My opinion regearing is a good thing keeps clutches from burning up. and allows easier turning tires.

I would agree if we were talking about anything bigger than 31's. If you stick to 31's or less you will be fine with the stock gearing. 32's or larger you should at least re-gear the t-case if nothing else.

Yep 31's or less you will be fine...
