Title: FRONT HUBS
Post by: kingzoo on May 08, 2007, 07:15:32 PM
IS CHANGING FROM MANUAL TO AUTO  HUBS AS SIMPLE AS GHANGING HUBS OR IS MORE INVOLVED?I JUST BOUGHT SOME USED AUTO HUBS IN GREAT SHAPE AND THOUGHT  I WOULD CHECK ON THINGS BEFORE I STARTED.

Nope, they just swap right over. One thing though, they use different bolts. The lock in/out ones use regular bolts with conical shaped lockrings to help keep them tight, the auto hubs use hex-key bolts without any locking method and they will come loose occasionally, so make sure to check them every now and them. Also if you're planning on going off road with auto hubs, just be aware that anytime you roll backwards coasting, they might unlock, then when you gas it forward again, they will suffer severe failure from trying to lock under extreme force...

Also, one last thing: Please hit your caps lock button to turn it off, it takes not even one whole second to do so and it will make your posts much easier to read, which in turn might get you more replies. When you type in all caps, it appears as if you're yelling...

i definately plan on going off road,so i will stick with the manual hubs and sell the auto hubs i picked up,or keep as spares.it sounds to risky to use the auto hubs off road.
thanks for the tip on the cap lock, and i have fixed it.i don't wanna yell at anybody..that would be mean!
