Post by: copperfever on May 10, 2007, 03:20:53 PM
Has anyone used retreaded tires from high tec? They look decent and I have heard good things from some J**p guys, but was wondering if anyone here has tried them...

Here's the site:

Really?! Was that a price from someone at the store or using their little shipping calculator? Using their online shipping calc. it said that shipping 4 235's to Colorado was less than $50...

I think AJMBLAZER had a set of HI-TECH's  (225/75R16) on his Grand Vitara before it was totaled. Perhaps he would be a good one to ask.

I knew they couldn't be THAT far off...
Anyway, I'm probably going to get my next set of tires from them. I have even heard that retreads are actually taller than new tires of the same size. According to someone I talked to, the 235's that they ordered were almost 31" tall! Apparently this applies to all the sizes... it's like getting even more "bang" for your buck.

I've heard good and bad about them. They seem to be GREAT if they work... but they're hard to deal with if one of their tires fail. I've emailed them twice asking what their return policy is if their tires fail, and have never received a response. If they're going to ignore me before the sale, how am I supposed to have confidence they'll take care of me after the sale?

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I recieved my 31x10.50 OTR Muds today and they look great. The myth that retreads are taller than new tires of the same size is bogus, each one measured dead-on at 31". I "under ordered" with the 31's because they were supposed to measure 33" tall! Oh well, maybe I'll just bite the bullet and throw down for a set of real 33's some day...
