Title: Aluminized exhaust.......
Post by: NEW_ZUKER on May 12, 2007, 10:17:14 AM
Hey, quick question...  I have allways been a stainless-steel exhaust guy, cuz basically they usually out lasts the cars they are on. But I need new exhaust for my 88.5 tin top sammy, and was looking at a thorly header, and the aluminized exhaust set-up that LowRangeOffRoad.com has. My question is, is anyone running this exhaust, or any aluminized exhaust systems, and if they put up a good fight agaisnt rust and all that good stuff???  please let me know, any info is welcome.  And thanks ahead of time. :)

Most vehicles on the road today have aluminized systems. They basically just coat the inside and outside of the tubing with a layer of aluminum to prevent rust. It works very well, and will last a very long time at a fraction of the cost of stainless.

Ohhhh   outside AND inside :o     that makes me a bit happier, cuz I thought it would be just the exterior, but since the inside is aswell, I'm guessing this is some good stuff. Sweet, thanx much for the info. And does anyone know if I'm gonna be puttin good stuff on, its gonna be a 2" exhaust system (aluminized), free flow cat (probly gonna make it into the removable type, for off-road use only of-course ;D   ;)  )  and a thorly tri-y header.  If not, any good suggestions out there????

That sounds like a pretty solid setup. I would estimate a 10%-15%hp gain and at least 3-5mpg increase(maybe slightly more with the cat off).

You should notice a difference in power and sound for sure. Don't forget to free up the air intake side as well with at least a nice high flow air filter for the most gain...

Oh yeah, ofr sure, I made a "custom" air intake, if I can call it that  ;D   Its basically the old volant intake from my '02 tundra, that I heated and re bent/shaped the tube (also re-did the box that it had) >:D , and let me tell you, this thing sounds like a hemi (sort of, but on a much smaller scale) when I role by on full throttle in third or fourth, going about 35 mph with the stock exhaust!!!!
