Title: New (to me!) Sidekick -- Need bolt size for soft top
Post by: Stainless on May 14, 2007, 06:40:49 AM
Howdy -- I just picked up a '92 Sidekick and need to know what size bolts to use to attach the soft top.  I've got every other part except the screws/bolts that attach it to the body. I checked all the webpages I could find (besttop, pavement ends, etc), but nobody lists a mounting kit.

The PO had it sitting in a box for the past 5 years and never bothered putting it on!
Thx,
-Al.

They're just small phillips screws that are used on several different parts of the vehicle.  Take a look at the screws holding the plastic panels on the side of your seats, I believe those are the same size.

they are metric machine screws, not sheet metal screws and although the factory ones are phillips heads, the threading matches the fender bolts that take a 10mm wrench...

the soft top consists of the windscreen portion (where the sleeve of the front slides in)

2 snaps where the dome light is

it is then held tight by velcro on the sides by the swingout bars (right behind the doors

the back is held tight by corner type hooks that go around the back corners (these are held tight from the pulling motion of the front windscreen)

there is also 5 snaps on the thin rollbar right above the back window

the back window is zippered to the top and has a fiberglass rod that pops into plastic clips on the tailgate
