New to the board, just wanna post first question on this one, simple one too. I have a 87 samurai. Was getting a rubbing noise and a hot rim and drum. I checked it and blew a brake cylinder, got new shoes and cylinder, but can't get the stubborn drum off. Whats your guy's ways off taking the drum off that seems like it's welded? Thanks for any advice given. :)

Slacken off the handbrake cable. Refit the wheel and then tap round it (or give it a jolly good kicking) to break the drum loose.

Doesnt the sami have pusher bolt holes? I am sure the kick does and I thought the Samis I have owned did also.

The OEM rotors have 10mm bolts to pop the rotor off but I think the drums don't.
The best way to get the drums off (after releasing the e-brakes by disconnecting them at the back of the drum housing) is to place the multi-functioned Scissor Jack between the wheel and the frame after taking off the 4 nuts that hold the drum to the axle end. PB Blaster on the 4 bolts also helps.
I've tried tried the above method and have also used a slide hammer borrowed for free from an atuo parts store and both methods work quite well.
You can also use the Scissor jack method to pop the axle shafts for bearing replacement.

Thanks guys. I got both drums off on jackstands and knocked them off with the tire still on. Only problem after replacing the blown cylinder and line, putting in new brakes and correctly putting the hub assembly back together, I get a rubbing sound still as if the brakes are still catching against the drum. I did get the lines bleed correctly also. What might this gremlin be?
I have another question as to what is between the brake lines between the front and back?
Its a small cylinder thing with the lines going in and coming out the other side. Regulator?

Thank you sir. I kept pondering to what the damn thing was ???. I saw it leaking a bit, could that be a problem that my brakes are dragging in the back?

Yes it could be, they leak on the outside and they also leak on the inside which makes it just kind of a junction block,my brakes in the back will wear out in a couple of weeks going through muddy water if I don't pull them apart and clean them after the run, they fill up with all kinds of stuff, I would like to go disk in the back but don't have the funds for it now, trying to find a good set of used tracker front calipers and brackets to put on the front and move the sammie ones to the rear.
