Title: Rea A arm spacer
Post by: museboy07 on May 26, 2007, 09:20:10 PM
Do I need to install a rear a arm spacer after doing a 2in coil spacer lift.  My front always sagged lower then the back and now that i got the spacers in it seems that the front is higher?  Would the rear a arm be holding it back??

it could be holding it back, I know with my 3 inch coil lift the a-arm is about 3 inches away and I could tell it would hold it back alot.  I had a rear a-arm spacer fabbed up by a local welder.  to plates welded onto square channel.. bolts to the a-arm, and bolts into the diff...

ok thanks john mine looks to be holding it back a little too.  I'll fab one up here soon.  It'll give me more articulation too

If you used actual 2" spacers front and rear, that is the reason the front is higher...

A 2" spacer in the rear, raised the vehicle 2" in the rear, but a 2" spacer in front raises it more than 2", due to the geometry of the front control arms, in other words the spacers sit inboard and the lift is multiplied since the wheel sits out at the end of the control arm.

Jack up the rear and see if the rear a-arm pivots down at all, if it does, (and it will) then it isn't binding just sitting on the driveway, where it will bind is under flex... where you have reduced the down travel.

Also, the rear shocks will probably limit your down travel before the arm arm will.

I never had any binding with a simple 2" longer coil in rear, but now that I have added additional spacers, there is some binding, AND my extra long shocks are even limiting down travel.

Quaddawd, I know the whole front end geometry deal, but my front always sat like an inch lower when it was stock. So I fugured this would level it up. But I guess it went a little to far.  Oh well I might throw some 4 door coils in the back to level it up. But then ill definately need the a arm spacer and probably a driveshaft spacer too...oh well

definately worth doing; I had mine  made up as per the following;

http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/trurl_pagecontent?lp=pt_en&trurl=http%3a%2f%2fwww.cabrito.suzukioffroad.com.br%2fUpper%2520wishbone.htm

 Brazilian/portugese translation!

but the 3" long bolts failed; so a mate made up one like this with 8 short bolts instead

note; when you remove the original bolts, you'll see that 3 go right through and one doesn't
