Title: sammy transfer case question
Post by: daddyizzle on May 29, 2007, 07:54:28 PM
If a sammy transfer case pops out of gear, will a rebuild solve this or are there  parts that you need to buy in addition to the standard rebuild kit to solve that problem?

Watch the shifter and give it some gas and then let off while driving and see if it moves forward and back, if so you might want to look for a new one.

Usually it just needs a new plastic bushing for the shifter sheet doesn't it?

Not mine but I had a previous samurai that would jump out of 4 wheel drive but not out of 2 wheel drive. This is actually one that a guy says needs rebuilt and needs what ever is broke fixed since it was jumping out of gear. I think his words were that you would need to replace the broken part that makes it jump out of gear. I would think it would just be the bushing if the mounts were all good myself.

There is a fix for the four wheel drive part poping out, it is about 100.00 or you can use a washer behind the bearing and turn the collar over. It's the part behind the front out put.
