Title: vilvo 5 speed

has anybody ever heard of using a volvo 5speed tranny as a second trasfer case?

Theres an article somewhere (Dutch site?) that shows how to fit a 4 speed (IIRC) Volvo gearbox between the gearbox and tcase of an SJ as a gear reduction box. I'm pretty sure it was a 410 because they used the shorter 4 spd gearbox from a Bedford Rascal (SH410 micro van thing).
I'll see if I can find it cos otherwise you'll never understand what I'm talking about, lol.

I tried looking for a vilvo 5-speed, but could only find a volvo.  So i decided not to use either....

100 series volvos are pretty rare here in the states. The more common ones are the 200 series(ie 240,242, 244 DL/GL/ and turbo models) and the 700 series(740, 760, and 740 turbo models) most of the volvos I hve seen came with auto trans. The 4 speed and later 5 speeds are not as common.
