Hey guy's, well I'm thinking about installing a body lift and had a few questions. I am not shure about 2" or 3" pros/cons would be great. Which is better Calmini, Sky, or Rockyroad? I already have the Calmini 3" susp. but I still rub 30x10.5 TSL's at full flex, I have trimmed the rear of the front fenders but still rub and the right rear at full flex. Any suggestions would be helpful. ;D

2" is easier because you don't have to worry about extending brake lines or steering shaft. Might need extension on Tcase shifter. Being as there's really not much to them, I'd go with which ever vendor has the best price. You could also make your own. 2" should be enough to clear the tires.

are you serious? i built a home made 4inch lift for my rig. i didn't extend anything. i bent the tranny shifter up and it clears fine and for the xfer case i welded in a screw driver :o but i dind't need to extend anything..just one brake line had to be moved from the holder.

and this is why I'm letting you design my body lift for my rig aswell ;) Tho I'm sure we're gonna do a few things differently like you mentioned before

hope you have one of those tracker with a sliding steering shaft. i extended mine with a old socket. for the front drivers side brake line i just took the plasma cutter and made a slit under the line and moved it down.

I'm running 1" coil spacers and a home-built 2" body lift and clear 31" Swamper TSL's. One of the biggest factors it seems in fitting tires without rubbing is the rim dimensions. I'm running 15x8" wagon wheels with 3.5" of back spacing. I had to pound the floorboards a little, but I didn't need to trim anything. Also with a 2" BL, I didn't have to extend anything, it all reached just fine.

Ya my wheels are 15x8 with 2.75" of backspace. I think I will run a 2"

Running less backspacing will make you rub MORE since the front tires will be moving farther forwards and back through turns. You're probably rubbing now because of the 2.75" backspacing. One more inch of backspacing will lessen the rubbing by moving the tires inward a little more and by lessening the amount of forward/back movement during turns.

I understand that. I like the stance with the 2.75" spacing. I think that with 2" bodylift it will be just right.

Sorry, I thought you meant you were thinking about running a 2" BACKSPACE... LOL My bad! A 2" body lift would be the easiest body lift out there with the least potential modifications to work right. You should be able to clear 30's easily with 3" suspension AND a 2" body lift. Every lift/wheel combination seems to yeild different results for different people. I know a guy running 1" spacers, a 2" body lift and 32x10.50" Swamper TSL's on 15x7" old jeep rims and only needed a little floorboard pounding and to remove the bumper skins. I know another guy running just a 4" body lift(bioniconion :P) with 31x10.50" General Mud Terrains on aluminum rims with somewhere around 4" of backspacing(I think) and he trimmed the back edge of the front wheelwell. If you go to Calmini's site and search around enough, they recomend 3" suspension AND 3" body lift just to run up to 32" tires! I don't understand why there seems to be such a huge difference in setups, but the two things that seem to be what makes or breaks the rubbing issue boils down to the backspacing of the rims and the width of the tires. Weird :-/ :-/ :-/
I put those stickers on a few weeks ago. A freind of mine works in a local sign shop and I had him whip these out during a slow spell. He matched the font and size for the stock Tracker stickers, so it's kinda stealth in a way. ;) I came up with the idea reading the article about gonzukin on this website's adventure section. The author (NYSidekicker, I think) had his nickname across the bug sheild... Since I hope to go to one of these events soon, I figured I would make sure everyone there from the message board would know who I was on sight! LOL!!!
